COVID-19 Vaccination for cancer patients.
Importance and schedule
Vaccine is a very important boon for cancer patients, and I think it is one of the most important tools in a war against COVID. If I look at cancer patients, it is even more important because they are more prone to infections, and fortunately, the vaccine works very well. So there are three subsets of patients in cancer. One is the group that is undergoing treatment. The other group is on follow up. And the third group is people who have just completed treatment and their caregivers and those segments. Those on follow up must have the vaccine. Those who have just completed treatment after four weeks are eligible for the vaccine. They must check with their doctors and caregivers also must have the vaccine. For those who are on treatment, there is a word of caution; they must engage with their clinical teams to find out what is the right time to get the vaccination.
