Today we're discussing the Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer.
The 41mm stainless steel watch is versatile. It gives impressive stance and presence thanks to the notable lugs and unique combination strap and bracelet but is not overwhelming in size. The case is 12.5 mm thick. The cup-shaped caseback provides a comfortable fit that nestles in and sits low when properly sized. Distinctive of Ulysse Nardin, the watch has good weight for its size.
The watch features a combination of titanium insert as the linchpin of the triple hinged portion of the strap and bracelet. Both sides of the strap are affixed by screws for greater security. The strap is thin and supple and can be cut-to-length for a custom fit. The watch features a very handsome brushed titanium clasp for long-wearing durability, lightweight, and corrosion-resistance. It also features twin triggers for security.
Very smart in design.
The watch itself takes the design language of Ulysse Nardin's famous 19th Century to mid-20th century deck clocks or navigation instruments — their marine chronometers — and translates the look of those old deck clocks to a wristwatch format.
This watch, although vintage in its imagery, has modern luminescence in low or no light. It features vintage-style pear hands and a beautiful chocolate sunburst dial with date window at 6 o'clock and an internal cyclops eye, mounted underneath the crystal for a sleeker profile.
The watch features a 48-hour automatic winding movement, based on a thin ETA 2892A2 in the highest grade chronometer.
