한•일 위안부 타결 외국 반응
The United States and China have shown mixed reactions over the deal reached by Seoul and Tokyo to resolve the issue of Japan′s wartime system of sexual slavery.
U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice has praised the two countries for reaching the agreement that finally and irreversibly addresses the tragic treatment of sex slaves during World War Two.
She said Washington supports a full implementation of the agreement， calling it an important gesture of healing and reconciliation.
China has taken a more guarded stance， urging Japan to deal with historical issues in a responsible way.
A spokesman for China′s foreign ministry said Beijing hopes improved bilateral ties between Korea and Japan can be conducive to regional peace and stability.
He then repeated China′s long－standing position， saying Japan′s forced recruitment of so－called ′comfort women′ was a serious crime against humanity committed on people of Asia and other victimized countries.
