Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this Demco Gooseneck Plate that attaches into your 5th wheel rails. Now, if you've already got the above-bed rail kit for a 5th wheel, but you also need a way to haul a gooseneck trailer, this is a really great way to do it, because it makes use of those existing rails, drops into place, pins in, and gives you that 2 5/16 ball up top to attach your gooseneck trailer. Let's check it out. So like I mentioned, you've got your 2 5/16 ball up top, it sits right in the middle between the two rails and mounts into your industry standard rails, and then has slots off to the side of the plate for your safety chains to attach to. It's big enough to get some of your clevis hooks in there, but depending on the size of those clevis hooks, you might find some clearance issues, so just be mindful of that and be aware of it, but they are plenty big to get these ones on there.

It does carry a 25,000 pound gross trailer weight rating with it, and that's how much it can pull. Be mindful that you check your 5th wheel rails, your truck, and make sure you're going by the lowest rated component in the system. Just because this is rated at 25,000 pounds doesn't mean everything else in your system is. It does pin right into place with your above-bed rails, but it does require some drilling before the installation, just drilling through the center of those above-bed rails through the bed of the truck and securing a carriage bolt through that and a spacer plate and nut underneath, that's just for extra support on the rails. But once those are installed, they're done, they stay installed, you're good to go.

And then all you have to do to get this in or out is take the pins and clips out from all four corners. Then once it's unpinned, it's fairly lightweight to lift up and out, so it's pretty manageable too. So if you don't need to leave this in full-time, you don't have to. It's a black powder coated steel construction. That powder coat is gonna help it resist rust and corrosion over time, keeping this looking in better shape.
