Hello guys! I'm an American girl named Nwando. Welcome to my Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina travel vlog / diary. I hope this Mostar video vlog can help guide your travel!
Of all the places I have wanted to visit in the Balkans, Mostar was top of my list. It has the perfect combination of beauty, nature, and live history all in one.
I was there for three days, but I only vlogged 2 of those 3 days. I took a private transfer from Kotor, Montenegro to Mostar. It took about 4 hours. But it was cool because we got to drive through Republik Srpska and it was cool to see a place I read so much about in my Former Yugoslavia research books.
I was in the Balkans for about 2 and a half weeks, so by the time I arrived in Mostar, I was running out of money. There are cool tours and day trips to do in Mostar but I was just too broke to do the tours. But many people I met took a tour that showed significant landmarks from the former Yugoslavia war, including the sniper tower.
I definitely wish I had done the tour, but at the same time, I know I would have cried A LOT. I visited the graveyard across the main street along the old town, and I did A LOT of crying there reading the tombstones of people who died when they were still 20, 21, 22 years old. It was very sad.
But despite the sad history, Mostar is sooooooo beautiful and very touristy which is awesome. It was very crowded, which makes me happy because that shows that Bosnia continues to grow in tourism, and that is what I want for every country in the Balkans.
And the last thing I want to say is... because everyone asks me, but... there is no problem being black in Bosnia & Herzegovina as a traveler. The Balkans is the most friendly place I have ever traveled to, there is ZERO racism in Bosnia & Hercegovina and a traveler being black in Bosnia is not an issue AT ALL. VISIT MOSTAR!!! :)
