Hexcrawling 101 is a series of videos exploring preparing and running hexcrawl and sandbox campaigns in a tabletop roleplaying game. Though the advice leans towards the OSR and classic D&D style of fantasy gaming, it is essentially system agnostic. If you're interesting in drawing up a hexmap and letting your players loose on it, I think you'll find some things of value here.
