Path of Exile Tutorial - Support Gems

What are they & How do we use them ?
Support Gems are gems which modify the active skills they are linked to. To link support gems to active skill gems, they all need to be socketed in a segment of sockets which have lines between them. Many linked sockets can be used to give many skills a number of support bonuses.

For Example here is my Raise Zombie Skill Gem in my wand, the wand has a linked slot that is the correct colour for the Support Gem so this will allow me to fit the Minion Life Support Gem.

What this will allow me to do is boost the Life of my Zombies that i resurrect. This is automatic and does not need us to do anything other than make sure the link is made. To check this is setup correctly take a look at the bottom right of your screen and hover over the skill, in the popup you should see a 'LETTER' in the top right of the icon, if you do the support gem is working, if you don't it is not.
