DAY 2 PART 1: FULL TESTIMONY OF DYLAN'S CPS CASEWORKER &
Dr. Adams
This video begins with the testimony of Patricia Kraft, the CPS caseworker for Dylan Groves and the Groves family. Her testimony begins at the end of Day 1 and continues into Day 2. On the first day, the testimony is haulted due to an issue with the CPS reports and court is recessed until the following day.
I wanted to keep Patricia Kraft's full testimony together. However, at the start of Day 2, Dr. Adams is on the stand first. Therefore, this video will start with Patricia Kraft briefly, followed by Dr. Adams' full (short) testimony. After Dr. Adams' testimony ends, the remainder of Patricia's lengthy testimony will continue through to the end.
DR. ADAMS is the OB/GYN that delivered Dylan Groves. He was the On-Call doctor for NO-PRENATAL CARE women on the date that Jessica Groves went into labor. Jessica Groves never received any prenatal care prior to labor, therefore, Dr. Adams was called in to deliver her baby. He attended to her delivery and later that day, returned to take care of her during an after labor hemorrhage. He had no other contact with the Groves, nor any other aspect of this case. He testifies very briefly about the delivery of Dylan and the short time with the Groves.
PATRICIA KRAFT is the CPS caseworker that handled the Groves case and returned Dylan to Jessica & Daniel Groves. She has a rather enduring time on the stand. State Prosecutor Shawn Tieman questions her at length about many aspects of the Groves CPS case and the encounters that she had with the Groves family.
Jessica Groves Defense Attorney, Robert Stratton, also questions her at length about the Groves case. Specifically, questioning her on her case records, how inadequately she performed her duties of keeping track of their case and keeping Dylan Groves safe, and whether she did or did not perform the appropriate and correct procedures as a CPS caseworker.
This section of testimony gets a bit heated. In my opinion, and surprisingly, I believe that Attorney Stratton does a very good job at pointing out her many mistakes, horrible decisions and blatant disregard for the proper procedures that CPS requires.
Daniel Groves Defense Attorney, Chtistine Scott, questions Patricia Kraft for a far shorter time than her cohorts. However, she does a rather good job, as well, at pointing out the flaws in Patricia Kraft's investigation of this family and her inept job at reviewing necessary issues during home visits, checking Dylan for any possible abuse and lacking in follow through once the Groves disappeared. This is a very surprising day from the defense.
My Quick Opinion:
The testimony of Patricia Kraft was one of the more upsetting testimonies I have ever heard. Mainly, due to the facts we know with regard to how CPS handled this case and the manner in which this witness responded to the line of questioning that may have set her in a bad light. I added a few brief comments to this video to share my thoughts on only a few points in Patricia Kraft's testimony. I do not generally add commentary to trial videos and I hope it does not bother anyone. As I listened to some of her responses, I felt compelled to say a few things. I would like to know what you think, as well, so please share your thoughts in the comments.
