The birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a significant event in Islamic history. He was born on the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal in the Year of the Elephant, which corresponds to April 22, 570 CE, in the city of Mecca, in present-day Saudi Arabia.
The Prophet's birth was marked by several miraculous events. It is said that his mother, Amina bint Wahb, experienced a dream in which she saw a bright light emanating from her that illuminated the palaces of Syria. This dream was interpreted as a sign of the child she was carrying, who would bring light and guidance to the world.
When the Prophet was born, it is believed that he emerged from his mother's womb already circumcised and with his umbilical cord miraculously severed. He was named Muhammad, which means "the praised one." His father, Abdullah, had passed away before his birth.
The Prophet Muhammad's birth and early life were marked by divine protection and guidance, preparing him for his later role as the final messenger of Islam. His life's mission was to deliver the message of monotheism and the Quran to humanity, which he began at the age of 40 when he received his first revelation from Allah through the Angel Gabriel.
This event, known as the "Prophet's Call" or "Bi'thah," marks the beginning of his prophethood and the spread of Islam. The life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is extensively documented in Islamic tradition, and his teachings and actions continue to guide millions of Muslims worldwide.
