Canape chaat! A colourful & mouth-watering blend of different ingredients, Chaat is as much of a concept as it can be described as a dish. It usually comes in different varieties & in this video Home Chef Mansi Desi shares her recipe for the chaat that is served inside tiny canapes. Let's get cooking?
Ingredients required to make canape chaat:
2 medium-sized boiled and mashed potatoes
Chopped coriander leaves
1tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp coriander-cumin powder
A pinch of turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
Besan
Water
Canapes
Hot oil
Tamarind chutney
Coriander chutney
Sev
Chopped coriander leaves
Pomegranate pearls
How to make canape chaat:
1) In a bowl, take the mashed potatoes & add the following - chopped coriander leaves, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, coriander-cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt, sugar, lemon juice. Mix well & keep aside.
2) In another bowl, add Besan followed by water. Keep adding water little by little. We want a paste-like consistency and have to make sure that the batter doesn't turn runny.
3) Spoon in some of the potato mixture into the canapes & then apply a layer of besan paste on top. Like this fill up all the canapes.
4) Heat oil in a pan & add the canapes one after another. Fry till golden brown & remove from the oil.
5) Time now to assemble the canape chaat - Take one canape & add a spoon of sweet tamarind chutney, followed by the coriander chutney. Now garnish with sev, coriander leaves & pomegranate pearls.
6) The canape chaat is ready to eat & it is advisable to eat it immediately!
