We decide to start exploring the large number (30 to 50) of lake trails surrounding the area west & north of the town of Jasper, AB. These trails are all rated easy to moderate with low elevation gains while still giving some spectacular views of the Jasper valley. This maze of trails also allows hikers to create a day of hiking of almost any distance to suit any schedule and these trails can be used all year long. On this initial exploration of the area, we explore Caledonia Lake, Marjorie Lake, Hibernia Lake, Cabin Lake & Mina Lakes. These definitely would be a lot nicer in the summer months but we enjoyed them nonetheless on an abnormally hot day in the mountains in February.
