City Island
City Island is a neighborhood in the northeastern Bronx in New York City, located on an island of the same name approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long[3] by 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. City Island is located at the extreme western end of Long Island Sound,[3] south of Pelham Bay and east of Eastchester Bay.
At one time the island was incorporated within the boundaries of Pelham, Westchester County, New York, but the island is now part of New York City. City Island is part of the Pelham Islands, a group of islands that once belonged to Thomas Pell. The body of water between City Island and the even smaller, uninhabited Hart Island to the east is known as City Island Harbor. The small island adjacent to the northeast is High Island. The Stepping Stones Light, marking the main shipping channel into New York, is off the southern tip of City Island, near the Long Island shore.
As of the 2010 Census, the island had a population of 4,362.[3][4] Its land area is 0.395 square miles (1.02 km2). The island is part of Bronx Community District 10, and its ZIP Code is 10464.
In 1960 City Island became the last community in New York City to get dial telephone service. Until then eight operators in a private home on Schofield Street connected all calls. The dial exchange began as TT5, then 212, and now 885.

The Bronx Name
The borough (The Bronx) is named after The Bronx River which was named 200 years before the borough, this river was named after Swedish farmer Jonas Bronck who lived in Mott Haven BX.
The Bronx has a “the” because it’s named after the Bronx River, which runs through the borough. The Bronx River, in turn, was named after Jonas Bronck ( Sweden ) the first European settler in the area.
Jonas Bronck's farmstead consisted of approximately 274 (680 acres), The site is in present-day Mott Haven, about 1,000 feet south of Bruckner Boulevard and 500 feet east of the Willis Avenue Bridge
There’s a capital “T” in the official name of the borough, it should be The Bronx, not the Bronx

Hart Island
Hart Island aka Potter's Field is the largest tax-funded cemetery in the world.
Hart Island, sometimes referred to as Hart's Island, is located at the western end of Long Island Sound, in the northeastern Bronx in New York City. Measuring approximately 1 mile long by 0.33 miles wide, Hart Island is part of the Pelham Islands archipelago, to the east of City Island.
The city is able to recycle graves after 25 years. So after a body decompresses to skeletal remains, it’s legal for those graves to be recycled. That’s the reason New York City has never run out of burial space
The potter's field on Hart Island was run by the New York City Department of Correction until 2019, when the New York City Council voted to transfer jurisdiction to the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
