On Saturday, 9 December 2023, a parade of Krampus called "Krampuslauf" took place in Prague's Riegrovy Sady Park. About 150 of the creepy creatures gathered in one place. They came from different parts of the Czech Republic and Austria.
The Krampus came to Europe from Alpine folklore. This "Christmas devil" accompanies Nicholas the Wonderworker, punishing naughty children and scaring them. Thus, he is a counterbalance to the saint, who distributes presents to good children.

Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady) is over a century-old park that shelters intimate nooks and places with wooded areas, open grassy areas, and impressive city vistas. Vineyards used to be located here. Today, all that remains are parts of the original buildings: the Classicist lookout from the 1920s, renovated into a restaurant, and a three-sided sandstone obelisk from around 1840.
