After spending a weekend conducting research, my group returned home aboard the Island Packers ship. Naturally, we encountered several whales during their southern migration. These humpback whales were spotted on that return trip from Santa Rosa Island on 14 April, 2014. The sighting was near eastern Santa Cruz Island at around 5:00 PM. The whale sightings were numerous and incredible: we couldn't stop to watch all of them because we needed to maintain our schedule. A few of the other passengers told me they had gone on whale watching tours without the sort of fortune we had. Overall, it was a marvellous experience I will fondly remember. Despite its isolation, I encourage touring the California Channel Islands National Park if you ever have the opportunity.
