Anthony d’Offay is among the most legendary art dealers of the twentieth century. His gallery in London represented many of the great artists of recent times, from Andy Warhol, Lucian Freud, Bruce Nauman and Jasper Johns to Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter, Joseph Beuys and Sigmar Polke.
He discussed the history of art dealing and the development of the market as we know it today, and shared his views with regards to its future. Beyond that, he explained his recent decision to donate his vast collection of contemporary art to Tate and the National Galleries of Scotland, for the benefit of audiences across the United Kingdom.

Since January 2012, the Kunsthistorisches Museum has been inviting leading figures from the world of Modern and Contemporary art to spend time at the museum and speak publicly about their responses to it. The list of past speakers includes Jeff Koons, Edmund de Waal, Nan Goldin, Tobias Meyer, Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Sandy Nairne, Thomas Demand, John Currin, Elizabeth Peyton, David Dawson, Ugo Rondinone and many more.

Anthony d’Offay zählt zu den berühmtesten Kunsthändlern des 20. Jahrhunderts. Unter den von seiner Londoner Galerie vertretenen Künstlern finden sich zahlreiche große Namen der jüngsten Vergangenheit wie Andy Warhol, Lucian Freud, Bruce Nauman und Jasper Johns aber auch Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter, Joseph Beuys und Sigmar Polke.
D’Offay spricht über die Geschichte des Kunsthandels und die Entstehung des modernen Kunstmarktes, gefolgt von einem Ausblick auf zukünftige Entwicklungen. Darüber hinaus wurde im Gespräch auch seine Entscheidung, seine umfangreiche Sammlung zeitgenössischer Kunst der Tate und den National Galleries of Scotland als Vermächtnis für Kunstinteressierte in allen Teilen Großbritanniens zu schenken, thematisiert.

Seit Januar 2012 lädt das Kunsthistorische Museum führende Vertreter aus der Welt der modernen und zeitgenössischen Kunst ein, etwas Zeit im Museum zu verbringen und dann vor Publikum über die Bedeutung der Werke für sich und die Kunst zu reflektieren. Bisher konnten wir beispielsweise Jeff Koons, Edmund de Waal, Nan Goldin, Tobias Meyer, Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Sandy Nairne, Thomas Demand, John Currin, Elizabeth Peyton, David Dawson und Ugo Rondinone im Kunsthistorischen Museum begrüßen.
