“What was once sacred music on a Good Friday in 1736 in Leipzig, has now become something bigger..” Conductor Jos van Veldhoven explains the paradox, which he sees between his role as historical interpreter and the message that audiences take from the the St Matthew Passion, which he performed with the Netherlands Bach Society for All of Bach.
