Ali from Summer Inn Thoddoo took me on a plantation tour on motorbike around Thoddoo. He showed me some fields, what they grow on the island and how. Thoddoo is the biggest producer of watermelon in Maldives and also produces many other fruit and veggies. Later on I also walked around the fields on my own again. I saw 2 kinds of watermelon, papaya, raddish, coconuts, bananas, different kinds of salads and leafy greens, cucumbers, eggplant etc. I so loved to see the local agriculture and local men working on the fields. Everything they grow on Thoddoo is super yummy! And have you ever seen fufu fruit? It's a vine that looks like a melon (also called winter melon) but it's used as vegetable for example for curry.
