STORYLINE:
Tens of thousands of protesters returned to the streets of Serbia's capital on Friday to protest against President Aleksander Vucic and his populist rule.
The president earlier this week promised an early parliamentary election in an apparent attempt to defuse the large protests, telling the the nation that the vote would be held by the end of this year.
Most of the opposition parties have rejected holding an election as Vucic holds a firm grip on all leverages of power, including the mainstream media that have been almost completely under his control.
The demonstrators have held frequent mass protests in Belgrade in the wake of two deadly mass shootings that shook the nation.
They demand the resignations of senior government officials and the revocation of broadcasting licenses for two pro-government television networks which, they say, promote violence and glorify crime figures.
