When Federal Judge Robert Shelby ruled Utah's ban on same-sex marriage (Amendment 3) unconstitutional, it sent a shock wave throughout the country. One by one, state bans on same-sex marriage across the country were given a similar fate. All eyes are on the US Supreme Court as these cases from around the country petition for a final ruling by SCOTUS.
Behind the news and court cases, however, there are real families who are negatively impacted each day their unions remain unrecognized. These loving families, their friends and allies, await the day the United States will treat them with fairness and equality.
