The Lebanese army has intervened in the northern city of Tripoli, where violence has erupted between supporters and opponents of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Two people were killed in clashes on Monday.
The fighting broke out a week ago in the Alawite district of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh, a largely-Sunni neighbourhood - after an interview with Assad was broadcast on television.
Since then, at least 17 people have been killed and more than 100 wounded.
