COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Rich Jaffe) -- Everyone hears about the problem and now a local community is trying a different approach to battling the epidemic that keeps taking a toll. One way is a team approach. It's about going door-to-door but it isn't a police roundup. It's about getting help to addicts. Police and firefighters walked around the community Wednesday, July 15, knocking on doors. But it was a good thing. They were offering guidance, support and help for people in crisis; addicts. Officials delivered flyers in three specific neighborhoods with the do's and don'ts of people suffering an overdose. They also had numbers to call for help. Starting August 1, all Colerain Township police officers will carry Narcan and be trained to use it. That is the drug that is used to reverse a heroin overdose.
