Culturedog Sam Hatch first encountered Ian Fleming’s hedonistic hero spy James Bond in the dank confines of a dusty concrete basement. Tearing through random cardboard boxes on a literary treasure hunt, he found a number of Fleming’s espionage adventure tales mixed in amongst a modest, half-forgotten library of vintage 60s and 70s science fiction tomes. Claiming them for his own, Sam decided to read the Bond books immediately.
Which didn’t quite happen for a few decades. But read them he did, and eventually found himself enthralled by the tension, romance and constant threat of death hanging over British Secret Service Agent James Bond’s every move. Wildly different than most of the heavily-adapted film scripts, Fleming's printed exploits of his "double-oh" agent with a license to kill were a gritty affair loaded with exotic locales, turncoat temptresses, haughty attitudes and grievous bodily injuries. What’s not to love?
Take a spin of the wheel and visit Culturedog’s collection of vintage Signet 007 novels. Just don’t sit in the bottomless chair.
