Locality: Huanggang Fe-Sn deposit, Hexigten Banner, Ulanhad League, Inner Mongolia, China
A deep olive-green, hexagonal, hedenbergite-included quartz "cone" forms the centerpiece of this specimen and it sits atop a cluster composed of numerous, small quartz crystals of similar habit. The "quartz cone" is observed to be a pyramidal termination only with no evidence of prism faces, vaguely resembling a "beta quartz" crystal. The Khaki color shiny quartz crystals growing in-between the green quartz, very aesthetically arranged and a rare combination in terms of color and shapes.
Each of the six terminal faces consist of a myriad of triangular-shaped growth forms that glisten in ambient lighting. A uniquely attractive cabinet specimen.
Mongolian Green Hedenbergite Quartz are now very sort after in the market because all six districts in Huanggang producing such quartz had been shut down at least 3 years ago for environmental protection. Mining in these most remote parts of Inner Mongolia have produced some of the most different, energetic and genuinely mystical crystals ever to surface.
