Warren Hill’s snazzy leopard-print vest was an omen. Channeling his inner Big Cat, the Toronto-born musician referenced Gato Barbieri, Herb Alpert and just a smidgen of Santana with his Cuban Salsa fusion/hybrid/mashup on stage at the Crystals during Canadian Music Week 2008.
Warren Hill plays his sax with a passion that would leave many other contemporary Jazz artists shocked and amazed, dazed and confused. That passion was enough to distract even the busy Music Industry dealmakers having lunch; they particularly enjoyed the drum solo (finished with only one stick!), and the percussive breakdown on piano. Warren prowled the stage, snarling out solos, allowing each player a chance to shine.
Warren Hill has been making records since 1991, placing seven albums on the Jazz Charts. He has also backed Chaka Khan and Natalie Cole.
