One year after three men are killed in Lookout Valley, the family of those killed return to remember the ones they lost.
Three roses mark the spots where three men were shot and killed one year ago, Thursday.
For the sisters of Jake Lang, the owner of the mobile home that once sat here, it's been a long road.
"My brother was murdered, cold blood murdered in his back yard," Sharon Pfister said.
Today, family gathered here for hugs, laughs and remembering Jake, Caleb Boozer and Jon Morris.
Officers say three men, Derek Morse, Skylar Allen and 15-year-old Jacob Allison jumped out of a car in ski masks shooting four men multiple times. The only survivor was a 16 year old victim.
The alleged shooters are all charged with 3 counts of criminal homicide and one count of attempted criminal homicide.
Jake's sisters say arrests brought little comfort.
"Our hearts are broken they'll never be mended my heart will never, ever ever not have that hole in it.. He just meant everything to us," Pfister said.
The family, who now lives all over the country, says they make a point to come back and visit every few months and leave little memories behind like three crosses at the beginning of Kelly's Ferry Road.
"I want people to drive by there and look at those crosses and picture your brother's name on that cross or your son or your family because it happens all the time," Yvonne Scelson said.
Jake's family says their new mission is to see justice served and make sure a brutal act like this one never happens again.
"We don't want people to forget. That's the main thing. We think if we talk about it and we come here and we talk about it it'll still be fresh in their memory like it is ours," Scelson said.
Jake's family says family members and friends of all the men killed there a year ago were there at some point today.
They say total about 40 people came out to pay their respects.
The three men charged are due back in court for a status hearing on April 23rd. So far, a trial date has not been set.
