Original Description - Updates Are Listed Below.
The main features of this simulated CBS Rankin Bass Christmas special include Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, The Little Drummer Boy, Santa Clause is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman. A few bonus classic Christmas cartoons are also included near the end, And all commercial breaks are packed full of nostalgic Christmas commercials from mostly the 70's and 80's. The special is not set in a specific time frame so the commercial dates will jump around a bit. Some of the commercials have even been edited slightly to remove the mention of the date. The first and last clip match each other so you can right click and select loop to repeat like a broadcast day. This is good for holiday chores or background entertainment for Christmas company.
Updates:
Many changes to this new version include the most requested fix, all clips are now in the proper aspect ratio for the folks who needed that for technical reasons or preference. This means you can now watch this special on your favorite old timey TV if you have the proper equipment! Lots of new toons are also in this new version including Frosty's Winter Wonderland, a direct sequel to the original Frosty the Snowman featuring narration by Andy Griffith! And one of my favorites, the Fat Albert Christmas Special, and the 1971 animated version of A Christmas Carol, a lesser known, yet highly regarded animated adaption of the classic Christmas story. There are also 3 new bonus old timey Christmas cartoons to add to the 4 previously at the end, including the Jingle Bells sing-a-long "Snow Foolin" by Screen Song, The Star of Bethlehem, a biblically accurate nativity story animated in a very simple yet charming style with low detail shadow figures on still backgrounds, and The Christmas Visitor, a classic Christmas cartoon about childrens presents coming to life.
No commercial was dropped in and used without careful adjustment of audio and picture quality. Many of the commercials sound or picture quality have also been restored/improved by me if not swapped out entirely for better quality versions. Some of the content has been moved around a bit, but nothing has been removed. Rudolph has also been updated with a high quality HD version with the proper colors, meaning Hermy and Yukon are now dressed in blue like they were on classic TV instead of the incorrect remastered green. I dug around for a long time looking for fresh quality vintage ads to use and found some real gems, some of which I had to obtain exclusive permission to re-use from the people who own the actual film reels. I also searched very hard to find all the proper bumper clips that say "we will return after these messages" and I even had to remake some of them myself.
