Will HIV Transmitted Through Saliva ?

Several false beliefs circulate about how HIV is transmitted. However, the virus is exclusively transmitted by blood, sperm, and breast milk because these are the only body fluids that contain HIV.

HIV is not present in other bodily fluids including saliva, tears, or perspiration and cannot survive outside the body. This means that no amount of physical contact, such as kissing, caressing, or embracing, or sharing of food or drink with an HIV-positive individual, will result in the spread of the virus.

With or without a condom, having sexual relations might spread HIV. People who take their HIV medicine as prescribed and have an undetectable viral load pose virtually no risk of sexually spreading the virus.
