Bitter melon is a climbing tropical vine which produces the eatable and highly medicinal fruit. Fruit is eaten or cooked only when it's green (unripe). As it ripens it turns dark orange until it pops on the bottom end releasing seeds covered in eatable sweet dark red flesh.
