On Monday, October 7, 2019, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond held a press conference to introduce the newly appointed Chief of Police to the public. Mirtha Ramos made history by becoming the county’s first female Chief of Police.
Ramos is a 22-year veteran of the Miami-Dade Police Department. Ramos will lead nearly 800 sworn police officers and 110 civilian employees while in office.
