The last main mission for my Fencer and it was a hassle. I tried several different loadouts, some of them are shown at the beginning of this video. Not included is my attempt with Great Shield and Blasthole Spear MS, which was a recommendation by a Japanese source. It got me murdered on Hardest, so I wouldn't even try it for Inferno.
Getting to the phase with the Anchors is no problem. Just pump out missiles. When the Wasps arrive, focus on killing the Death Queen and healing the NPCs. The Tadpoles are also no problem for the NPCs. Just heal, kill the blue ones and mop up left over Drones. The hard part for the Fencer is fighting the enemies on the ground, keeping the NPCs alive AND destroying the Anchors at the same time. The best against the Anchors would be akimbo NC290 or 35mm. But those nail you in place. And a Fencer that can't move is a dead Fencer.
I ended up using the NCSS Cannon Shot paired with a Blast Twin Spears M4. This is the beefed-up version of Dexter Shotgun & Jackhammer. It provides you with extreme mobility and terrifying attack power. If you run out of boost jumps, use the M4 to dart away. The range of the NCSS allows you to crash the Anchors while jumping around. By the time of this run, my NCSS was missing only the final damage upgrade.
But this loadout is way more complicated to use than Dexter & Jackhammer. Stunlocking Aliens isn't possible, for example. This was the first time I used the NCSS & M4 and one can see that I was learning how to use it during the run. One thing I noticed is that you can stop the forward momentum of the M4. Do a jump backwards and attack forward. The questionable physics will lock the Fencer in place. More precisely: he jerks around as the M4 cancels the backwards jump out, but in between the M4 shots, he moves backwards again. That is handy when you want to hit a target multiple times with the M4 without moving forward. Not easy to pull off, though.
Focus on the "small" Anchors first, as they take way less shots than the boss Anchor. Keep the NPCs alive by collecting health items and they'll take care of the small fry.
The biggest problem for the NPCs are the Kings and Queens with their ranged AOE attacks. They are NPC-killers. When you see one of them, rush over and murder it. With this loadout, the royal insects are nothing more than another corpse paving your way to victory. That's why I recommend leaving the boss Anchor for last as a Fencer, while other classes should take it out first.
How reliable is this? Da hëll I don't know! Was happy to be over with this. But I used the NCSS & M4/M5 successfully for this mission and dlc2 m14 in online mode. So I totally recommend trying it.
