Malaysia's oldest Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad took a hot lap in the NIO EP9 - the electric-powered, two-seat sports car - before flagging off the Malaysia Speed Festival (MSF) Saga Cup, which pays tribute to his brainchild from the 1980s, the evergreen Proton Saga. The NIO EP9 holds the electric vehicle lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 6 minutes 45.9 seconds.
