The Supreme Court has ruled that the underlying structure at the disputed site in Ayodhya ‘wasn’t Islamic in nature’. The artefacts recovered have a distinct non-Islamic nature, the five-judge constitutional bench said. The ASI report leads to the conclusion that Babri mosque was not constructed on vacant land, the SC noted. The Supreme Court says it can't reject the Archaeological Survey of India report as conjecture. The SC also said that the Babri Masjid was never abandoned by Muslims and prior to 1855, even Hindus had access to the inner courtyard.
