Federated League of Basketball Association 1984 Playoffs First Round Game 5 between the 3rd seeded Philadelphia 76ers and the 6th seeded New York Knicks - April 25, 1984
====================
GAME 5 Preview:
The series thus far had been surprisingly competitive and packed with nail-biting drama and it continued through the first quarter of Game 4, but the 76ers silenced the raucous New York crowd as they finished the game strong. They rattled off 34, 30, and 30 points over the final 3 quarters compared to the Knicks' 22, 21, and 22.
The 76ers dominance of the paint carried over into this game. They scored 78 points inside compared to the Knicks' 52, fueled most in part by Edwin Kuminga's 35 and 19.
For the Knicks to stand a chance, Melvin Carson needs to play out of his mind, and even then it might not be enough. He only scored a pedestrian 19 in Game 4 and the Knicks got clobbered for it. The star power of the 76ers is just too much for the Knicks to handle.
Now deep in a 3-1 hole, it's up to the Knicks to respond in a big way this Game 5.
