Movies about cops partnering up with their polar opposites to solve crimes have always been a fan favorite. Released in the same year as Lethal Weapon, The Hidden wasn’t the biggest hit of the year. But it did have an insane plot filled with car chases, gunfights, and an alien parasite. Apparently, Michael Nouri had turned down the role of Detective Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon to star in The Hidden, a science fiction action film about an alien who possesses innocent citizens and uses them to commit impulsive and brazen crimes. The Jack Sholder film explores the idea that an alien’s perception of human life will depend on where they decide to land. The film is a light commentary on the trend of rampant excess during the 80s. We get an extraterrestrial antagonist obsessed with Ferrari’s, heavy metal music, and everything LA has to offer and making the most of it by creating chaos.
