Joseph's privileged status, as favorite son, was shattered when his jealous brothers sold him into slavery. Through suffering and betrayal in Egypt, Joseph kept his faith in God. Interpreting Pharaoh's nightmares as warnings of famine to come, he was rewarded with the highest office in the land for saving the people from starvation.
