(24 Jul 2014) US Army Chief of Staff conceded America has allowed their "capabilities in NATO to slip" and with the current situation in Ukraine and Russia it was imperative they rebuild in that area.
General Ray Odierno made the comments on Wednesday while addressing a security forum in Aspen, Colorado.
"We have to understand where our capabilities are," he added. "We have to start doing more exercises, more interoperability, we have to have some reassurance of our Eastern (European) partners."
The Aspen Security Forum runs until Saturday July 26.
