In this episode of Second Son Woodworks, I will be showing you how to create an end grain cutting board with red oak. See below for more information:

The tools you will need for this project are a circular saw, table saw, jointer, router with quarter round bit, wood clamps, square, pencil, tape measure, and sander.

End grain cutting boards make great gifts for friends and family. There are so many ways you can mix up the end grain pattern and utilize different types of wood.

To treat these boards, I used pure raw linseed oil mixed with a bit mineral spirits to help thin the oil and help it seep deeper into the grain of the wood. The mineral spirits will then evaporate in several days and no longer become hazardous; this is optional and some people disagree with this method. Make sure that you use a food safe oil like the pure raw linseed oil.
