(15 Jan 2019) :
Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa met his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Moscow on Tuesday.
Mnangagwa, whose country is facing its worst economic crisis in a decade, is visiting Russia in hopes of securing long-term loans.
Mnangagwa told Putin there is a "long history of cooperation" between Zimbabwe and Russia.
"I would wish that we now attend to deepening economic cooperation between our country, which is developing, it's a third world country, so that you as a senior brother, you can hold my hand, as I try to develop Zimbabwe," he added.
Mnangagwa is also planning to attend the World Economic Forum in Switzerland next week to encourage international investment.
Earlier on Tuesday, he laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow.
