Peter Kutzer, instructor at the Manchester, Vermont, ORVIS Fly Fishing School offers three different methods for making your cast curve to the right or left. This is a handy cast to learn if you want to try and present your flies around the side or back of a rock. His trick of twisting his wrist at the end of the forward cast will have you running out to the lawn with your fly rod to practice.
It looks so simple, and the results are impressive, but you'll find that some practice to get the timing and twist just right are required, so this is definitely a bit of an advanced cast to learn. Luckily, Peter lays it out so simply that you may surprise yourself when you try it out.
