I made this video to show the process of how I make our Engraved Gavel Gift sets, turn the hammers on the cnc lathe, then hand finish them, and craft their sound blocks on the cnc router.

I built the custom fixturing clamps on our routers, and built the lathe from the ground up over about 6 months to craft these hammers.
The lathe is not yet finished, I still have to tidy her up and add the steel covers, but she's making some really nice parts.

Because I make the gift boxes to fit the auctioneer hammer sets, it was important to have each hammer come out exactly the same size so that they fit into their timber boxes, so instead of hand turning them, the machine cuts out the initial shape to the exact size and then I hand finish them by sanding, polishing, coating and assembling the gift sets.

Its a really fun product to make, and really satisfying to hand finish them on the manual lathe, sanding them down to a polished finish.
