LIVE FUNERAL: Len Goodman Public Viewing Memorial Service😭
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing were rocked by the news of the passing of head judge Len Goodman. The news broke early on Monday, April 24th, and tributes have been flooding in ever since.
The Mirror reported that the Strictly Come Dancing performer, who was very popular, has died after being diagnosed with bone cancer. According to the article, Len passed away on Saturday night at the age of 78 while residing at a hospice in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
Jackie Gill, Len's agent, confirmed the news in an email to clients today, writing, "It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Len Goodman. He died peacefully at the age of 78." A beloved family man who will be much missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren.Immediately, fans and celebrities alike began receiving heartfelt tributes. Former Strictly Come Dancing contestant and Channel 5 news reporter Dan Walker paid tribute to the late star, calling him a "incredible man & an extraordinary talent."
"Len Goodman was a wonderful, warm entertainer who was adored by millions," said News Director-General Tim Davie. He was loved by people of all ages and was treated like family by all. Len was crucial to the success of Strictly.
Len first appeared on Strictly in 2004, and he left after the Christmas Day 2016 episode. Shirley Ballas has taken over his role as the show's main judge on the BBC program.
According to The Mirror, Goodman got into dancing at the age of 19 and went on to win several events, including the British Championships in Blackpool before calling it quits. Before announcing his retirement in November of last year, he also presided over the judging panel on the American version of the show, Dancing With the Stars, for more than 15 years. He previously stated his desire to "spend more time with my grandchildren and family" in the UK.
Len said in 2019 that he had surgery to eradicate skin cancer, urging his audience to treat the disease seriously. A photo of him pointing to a bandage under his hat was released by the Melanoma Fund, an organization that educates the public about the cancer. According to the caption, "The ex-BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge was playing a few rounds with our ambassador Paul Way at The Grove — a Sun Protection Accredited club and revealed he has just had skin cancer removed." His hope was that this picture would get people thinking about the problem.
In 2021, Len mentioned that a friend had seen the suspicious mole on his body while he was out playing golf, prompting him to have it looked out. They removed it, he said, and it was gone. It was a small bump on my forehead, and I attribute its appearance to the fact that "I don't normally wear a hat when I play golf"
Len told his loved ones, but not the BBC, that he had malignant tissue removed from his prostate gland in 2009. He went into detail about his four days in the hospital and subsequent weeks of rest and rehabilitation. He said, "Men, probably more than women, tend to ignore their health. " This was directed for middle-aged men, and he urged them to seek frequent checkups.
Medical technology has advanced to the point that annual checkups may save your life if a disease is detected at an early stage. That, I believe, is the most crucial point; males of a certain age should get a physical annually.
funeral will announced soon
