The Pasupatheeswarar temple is situated in the village of Thirukondeeswaram in the Thiruvarur district. This is one of devara hymns place dedicated to god shiva.
72nd Shiva Sthalam on the Southern bank of the river Cauveri in Chozha Nadu (Thenkarai).
There is a stone inscription in this temple which dates back to the period of Vijayanagara King Veera Krishnadevarayar.
There is a separate shrine for Goddess Jyeshta Devi, sister of Goddess Mahalakshmi.
