Fur protesters have been demonstrating in 20 cities across the United States today.
They're urging people to take any presents made of animal products off their Christmas shopping list.
One of the most vociferous protests has been going on outside a fur retailer in Washington DC.
It is a scene being mirrored across America today.
Protesters from the group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are staging nationwide demonstrations against the fur trade.
Their main aim - keeping customers out.
On the shop's door a billboard for their message.
Police eventually arrest those who were blocking the entrance, but many of the protesters still made their voices heard as they were led into police wagons.
PETA say fur is the product of killing innocent animals.
SOUNDBITE:
"Their only crime is their beauty, so we have to speak out against cruelty, and that's why we're here today. What goes on inside this store does amount to murder. It's innocent lives dying in the name of greed and vanity, and that's why we're there."

SOUNDBITE:
"When people buy a fur coat or a hamburger or whatever, they don't see the animal's suffering. They don't see the animals live, they don't see the animals die."

PETA claim their concerted action in 20 US cities has been broadly successful in getting their message across in the run-up to Christmas.
