This video was taken for a fellow Mustang enthusiast (for his 1972 Mustang with a 302 2v) to show the hose routing for a 1973 (and earlier) Mustang coolant temperature sending unit wiring, and sender unit location on the engine, just behind the ignition distributor. For analog gauge equipped instrument panels the sending unit is a device that allows more or less current to flow through it depending on the temperature of the engine coolant in contact with the sending unit. For instrument panels using an idiot light for coolant temperature monitoring, the sending unit is actually a thermal switch that is either electrically open or closed, depending on the temperature of the engine coolant in contact with said thermal switch.
