On April 8, 2016, the Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia at NYU held "Radiant Futures: Russian Fantasy and Science Fiction," a conference convened by Eliot Borenstein, Professor of Russian and Slavic Studies and Collegiate Professor at New York University and featuring a varied line-up of speakers from the literary field.
The second panel discussion was devoted to the "Strugatsky Brothers" and featured Maya Vinokur from University of Pennsylvania, who spoke on “The Pedagogy of Disaster: On the Educational Philosophy of the Strugatsky Brothers,” Amanda Lerner from Yale University, who spoke on “Expanding Empire into the Stars: Colonization in Polden,’ XXII vek” and Tony Anemone from The New School, who spoke on “Adapting the Strugatsky Brothers for the Cinema: 1979-2013.”
