Studies show 7 out of 10 smokers want to quit but quitting cold turkey is the least effective way. Wayne Tormala, chief of the Bureau of Tobacco and Chronic Disease at ADHS, talks about the benefits of quitting smoking and how relapse is an expected part of the quitting process. However, smokers can increase their chances of quitting by almost 50% with 4 weeks of free nicotine replacement therapy and coaching from the Arizona Smokers' Helpline, or ASHLine.
There are many ways everyone can improve their health in 2016: eat healthier meals, be more physically active, quit smoking, and get screened for cancer. It's not too late to start your New Year's resolutions and it's never too late to be healthy!
