I re-recorded this video because the other one didn't turn out very well.
V's spoiler free review of Good Omens, the book, the audio book, and the trailer for the miniseries appearing on Amazon Prime Video on May 31st, 2019.
Good Omens was written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and is an absurdly comical story about the Apocalypse and the angel and demon trying to stop it. Characters include the Order of St. Beryl (satanic nuns), Crowley (demon, the snake from the Garden of Eden), Aziraphale (angel, Crowley's partner in saving the world), a fake psychic, and girl who's a little too psychic for her own good, a witch finder army, the Them (the Anti-Christ and his friends), and others.
The audiobook is narrated by Martin Jarvis, who does an incredible job making characters comes to life in their own way.
The Amazon Prime Instant Video miniseries was written by Neil Gaiman and benefits from Gaiman also being a producer, giving him maximum creative control on the project. One key difference between the book and the show is that Gabriel, played by Jon Hamm, has a much larger role in the series. This is because there is an unfinished sequel to Good Omens that explores the role of angels in depth. Since Terry Pratchett is permanently unavailable to collaborate on the sequel, including Gabriel in the show is a nice way to include this material. David Tenet plays Crowley.
Tldr: Go read/listen/watch Good Omens. This is a rare jewel of a story.
