In August 2019, the University of Hawaii at Manoa School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST) welcomed new undergraduate students with a two-day orientation. Students visited Kapapa Lo'i o Kanewai (taro patch at UH Manoa's Hawai'inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge) and toured the UH Manoa Hawai'i Institute of Marine Biology (HIMB) at Coconut Island!
