Record winter snowfalls this past winter, along with rapid spring snowmelt and rainfall has led to historic river flooding on the Mississippi River from Minnesota, Wisconsin and into Iowa. Lansing crested today at 19.61 feet which was #4 ALL TIME behind (#1) 22.50 feet in 1965, (#2) 19.93 feet in 2001 and (#3) 19.90 feet in 1880. MacGregor, Iowa, just downstream from Lansing hit #3 ALL TIME today of 22.91 feet. There is a building in the third clip at the 18 second mark showing today's water level versus the record crest of 1965, just above the door frame. The Lansing, Iowa, to Wisconsin Bridge was closed yesterday due to flooding on the Wisconsin side and on Thursday a train derailed near DeSoto, Wisconsin, a few miles north of Lansing, but on the Wisconsin side due to tracks being washed out by floodwaters.
