Parliament has asked the government to give a comprehensive statement on what it intends to do to end the border row between Uganda and South Sudan. The tension escalated a week ago with violence breaking out after a group of South Sudanese policemen detained local leaders and census officials in Wano Village in Moyo district. The area is claimed by both countries. The Deputy Prime Minister Premier Moses Ali told parliament that this dispute started way back before South Sudan’s independence in 2011. Meanwhile, the state Minister for regional affairs Asuman Kiyingi, who was sent as a special envoy to South Sudan told parliament that a memorandum of understanding to end the conflict will be signed between the two countries on 9th October.
